Cardiac Science, Inc. was formed in 1991 to develop FDA-approved rhythm-analysis software, the foundation for their first fully automatic bedside defibrillator. In 2003, Cardiac Science launched the Powerheart G3 AED.

In 2019, ZOLL Medical Corporation acquired Cardiac Science. According to online Cardiac Science distributors, the Cardiac Science Powerheart AED G3 Plus has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

HeartSine was founded in 1998 to continue innovative development of advanced lifesaving products for the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest. Their passion to innovate began thirty years earlier when they invented the first mobile defibrillator.

In 2015, HeartSine launched the Samaritan PAD 450P AED, offering real-time visual & verbal audio feedback.

In 2015, HeartSine was acquired by Physio-Control, who was subsequently acquired by Stryker in 2016.
