Cardiac Science, Inc. was formed in 1991 to develop FDA-approved rhythm-analysis software, the foundation for the first fully automatic bedside defibrillator.

In 2003, Cardiac Science launched the Powerheart G3 AED Pro for the professional responder. The AED allows for manual override and displays a full-color ECG.

In 2019, ZOLL Medical Corporation acquired Cardiac Science. According to online Cardiac Science distributors, the Cardiac Science Powerheart AED G3 Pro has been discontinued by the manufacturer.

Headquartered in Connecticut, Defibtech was formed in 1999.

In 2002, Defibtech introduced the Lifeline AED with its simple display and cost-effective price point.
