Cardiac Science, Inc. was formed in 1991 to develop FDA-approved rhythm-analysis software, the foundation for the first fully automatic bedside defibrillator.

In 2015, Cardiac Science launched the Powerheart G5 AED, a rugged military grade device featuring optional compression feedback pads, and the first AED with bilingual on the fly capabilities.

In 2019, ZOLL Medical Corporation acquired Cardiac Science.

In 1955, Physio-Control was incorporated by Seattle based cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Edmark who developed the prototype ‘breadboard’ DC defibrillator.

In the early 2000’s, the LifePak Express launched as a cost effective alternative to the LifePak CR Plus.

Physio Control was acquired by Stryker in 2016. The LifePak Express AED has been deemed "end of life" and discontinued by the manufacturer.
