Description

In 1955, Physio-Control was incorporated by Seattle based cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Edmark.

In 2006, the LifePak 1000 was introduced for the professional responder.

Physio Control was subsequently acquired by Stryker in 2016.

ZOLL Medical Corporation was formed in 1980 with co-founders including Dr. Zoll who had previously been the first physician to successfully use external defibrillation to regulate heart rhythms in patients and discovered that external electrical countershock is effective in terminating supraventricular tachycardia and ventricular tachycardia.

In 2002, the ZOLL AED Plus defibrillator received 510(k) marketing clearance from the FDA. The ZOLL AED Plus was the first system to provide instantaneous feedback on the depth and rate of chest compressions during CPR.

The Fully Automatic version of the AED Plus was introduced in 2013.
