Our Solution -
4 Minute Community™ Program
Avive’s 4 Minute Community Program is a comprehensive response solution intended to increase bystander intervention, decrease time-to-defibrillation, and get valuable data to the people who need it, when they need it.
Utilizing historic Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) data, the program places Avive Connect AEDs into the hands of a network of CPR-trained citizen volunteers. This network, named CARE Team members, are then able to be alerted by 911 through their AED and dispatched to a nearby emergency - all with the goal of reaching patients in 4 minutes or less and improving sudden cardiac arrest outcomes.
- Early CPR and rapid defibrillation saves lives, and the sooner people receive bystander CPR and a shock from an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), the higher their chances of survival.
- With the 4-Minute Community Program, we will be:
- (1) strategically deploying Avive's state-of-the-art AED technology and cardiac arrest response platform in an effort to increase bystander intervention, and
- (2) creating a culture of response through community education to save lives from SCA

What is Sudden Cardiac Arrest?
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) claims the lives of over 350,000 Americans each year.
- SCA can happen to people of all ages, including children and teens, and even people who appear to be in good health.
- SCA is the number one cause of death among student-athletes and claims over 9,500 young lives annually.
- Ultimately, survival rates from SCA are very low (~10%) and we want to change that in our community!

Frequently Asked Questions
If you see some collapse suddenly and they are not responsive or breathing normally, you want to Call-Push-Shock. This means you want to immediately call 911, begin hands-only CPR by pushing hard and fast on the center of their chest, and use an AED to restart their heart. Let’s say you didn’t see a person collapse, but you find someone who is unresponsive. In this case, you also want to immediately Call-Push-Shock. Victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest will sometimes gasp or shake as if having a seizure. This does not mean that they are breathing normally or responsive and you want to immediately Call-Push-Shock. If a person is not responding, don’t keep trying to wake them up – they will not and your fast response is critical for their survival. Learn more about how to Call-Push-Shock!
