What is Sudden Cardiac Arrest?
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is an emergency medical condition where the heart unexpectedly stops beating and needs to be restarted.
SCA claims the lives of over 350,000 Americans each year, including children and teens and those in good health.
While high-quality CPR buys time, only a shock from an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can restore a person's heartbeat and save their life from cardiac arrest.
Only 1 in 10 SCA victims receives a shock from an AED before Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrives.
Ultimately, survival rates from SCA are very low (~10%) and we want to change that in Carrollton.
