Saving Lives from
Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Jackson
Fellow Jacksonians,
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the US, and we are doing something to change that in our community! The City of Jackson and Friends of Heart are partnering with Avive Solutions to significantly increase survival rates from SCA in Jackson through a Program called the 4 Minute City.
Together, we plan to bring cutting edge technology and forward-thinking ideas to Jackson by placing the Avive Connect AED™ across the city, and deploying their first-of-its-kind cardiac arrest response technology. Most importantly, we plan to work with the citizens of Jackson to create a culture of saving lives from cardiac arrest through free training and educational resources so that all of you are prepared to save a life.
I’m proud to share that Jackson was selected as 1 of only 5 US cities to implement this innovative Program. With the 4 Minute City Program, our goal is for cardiac arrest victims in Jackson to have access to a lifesaving AED within minutes of their collapse.
I look forward to building upon the tradition of excellence in cardiac care here in Jackson. Together we can save lives from cardiac arrest in our community!
Sincerely,
Mayor Scott Conger

Frequently Asked Questions
The 4 Minute City Program works to address the problem of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA), a prevalent public health crisis for which less than 1 in 10 patients survive. The sooner the patient in cardiac arrest receives a shock from an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), the higher their chances for survival; and today, that rarely happens.
The goal of the 4 Minute City Program is to save lives from cardiac arrest by getting lifesaving AEDs to patients in cardiac arrest within 4 minutes of 911 alerting the AED that it needs to be used nearby. The program places intelligent, 911-connected AEDs throughout the community and in the hands of trained Cardiac Arrest Rapid Engagement (CARE) Team volunteers who are ready and willing to respond to the call to help their neighbors. 4 Minute City communities leverage technology to get lifesaving help to those experiencing cardiac arrest quickly and efficiently.
