Colorado State AED Law
Schools in Colorado are encouraged to purchase AEDs, and Good Samaritan laws offer comprehensive protection for anyone involved in the use of the device.

Summary of Requirements
| Physician | A licensed physician must provide recommendations in establishing training, notification, and maintenance of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). |
| CPR/AED Training | The owner of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and expects to be the user of the device must receive training from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent nationally recognized course in CPR and the use of an AED. |
| EMS Notification | An owner of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) must notify local EMS of the existence, location, and type of AED they have. |
| Maintenance Program | The owner of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) must have written plans in place in regards to the placement of AEDS, training, EMS coordination, medical oversight, maintenance, people who are also authorized to use the AED, and written plans that have been approved by a licensed physician. |
| Notification of Use | Once an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is used for emergency care for a sudden cardiac arrest must alert EMS as soon as possible. |
