Carrollton, TX Becomes Fourth Community Partner in Avive’s 4 Minute City™ Program 

BRISBANE, CA, Feb. 26, 2024– Avive Solutions, Inc. announces the selection of Carrollton, Texas as the fourth partner community in Avive’s 4 Minute City Program. Carrollton, TX joins cities like Jackson, TN, Forsyth County, GA and Cumberland County, PA in their adoption of the 4 Minute City Program: an innovative, first-of-its-kind approach to cardiac arrest response. 

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a critical medical emergency that occurs when the heart unexpectedly stops beating normally. In the United States alone, there are more than 356,000 OHCA cases reported every year, with nearly 90% resulting in fatalities. 

The core of Carrollton’s 4 Minute City Program will work to strategically place 200 Avive Connect AEDs with individuals in the community to help increase bystander intervention and provide rapid response to a person experiencing SCA. The goal is to strengthen the links of the Chain of Survival with Avive’s new technology and deliver lifesaving therapy with an AED to someone in cardiac arrest within four minutes of dispatch from 911. 

As a 4 Minute City, the Avive Connect AED is integrated with Carrollton’s NTECC Emergency Communications Center, so when a cardiac arrest call comes in, telecommunicators will soon be able to activate all the Avive devices that are within one mile of the suspected cardiac arrest emergency. The devices will alert their owners when they need to be used nearby and will immediately map them to the emergency. While high-quality CPR buys time, only a shock from an AED can restore a person’s heartbeat and save their life.

In collaboration with the City of Carrollton and their excellent public safety agencies, including Carrollton Fire Rescue, Metrocrest Hospital Authority and NTECC, Carrollton, Texas  joins the ranks of forward-thinking communities across the United States dedicated to improving OHCA outcomes.
