Choosing a portable AED provides a number of advantages related to mobility, accessibility, versatility, and use. Sudden Cardiac Arrest requires immediate intervention, and portable AEDs facilitate a rapid response by allowing bystanders to initiate treatment quickly while waiting for professional help to arrive. Portable AEDs offer the advantages of mobility, accessibility, ease of use, and immediate response which all contribute to improved outcomes for Sudden Cardiac Arrest. They can also be used in a variety of settings, including homes, schools, offices, sports facilities, airports, and more!

Your Avive Connect AED is still usable in the event of an emergency regardless of whether you have access to Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity. The lifesaving therapy of your AED will work regardless of your connectivity status or lack thereof.

The AED will not check in or sync its location status with the REALConnect Platform or send incident data reports if used until Wi-Fi or cellular is available.

Learning to use an AED is simple and it gives people the confidence to know how to respond during a cardiac arrest emergency. In the United States, there is a lack of public awareness around cardiac arrest and AEDs, demonstrated by low rates of bystander CPR and AED use.

Training provides an opportunity to empower people with the knowledge to recognize the symptoms of cardiac arrest and the importance of intervening quickly with the use of an AED.

Every school campus is different, so there’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. Here are a few guidelines that you should follow when deciding where to place AEDs on your campus:

• Make sure your AED’s placement is such that the device is noticeable and easily accessible by any bystander. AEDs in a locked cabinet or the Principal’s office do nobody any good!
• Prioritize placement near athletic facilities given those are the highest risk areas for someone being a victim of SCA
• If you are able to purchase multiple AEDs for your school, it’s best to strategically place the devices such that an AED is always accessible within a two minute brisk walk from anywhere on campus

Some states have mandatory AED school laws, requiring AED placement and widespread training, while others have less stringent policies or leave it entirely up to the school management’s discretion.
