To encourage the responsible use of AEDs in emergency situations, Arizona provides extensive Good Samaritan protections to anyone involved in the deployment of a device.

Summary of Requirements
Physician | The owner of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) must enter into an agreement with a liscensed physician who oversees all aspects of the AED program. |
CPR/AED Training | No legislation is currently in place for Arizona. |
EMS Notification | Every trained responder who uses an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) during a sudden cardiac arrest emergency must alert EMS as soon as possible. |
Maintenance Program | The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) must be properly maintained and tested on a regular basis according to the manufacturer guidelines. |
Notification of Use | The owner of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) must submit a written report to the BUREAU OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES AND TRAUMA SYSTEMS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES within 5 business days once the AED has been used. |
